The Wind Symphony earned a I-I-I in Concert and a I-I-I in Sightreading. This is their 6th Consecutive Sweepstakes ratings. Bravo to the Wind Symphony for all their exemplary work.

Friday, April 20, 2012 at 9:23AM Congratulations to the Concert Band I on their performance at the 2012 UIL Region XXIV Concert and Sightreading Contest. The Concert Band I earned a I-II-II in Concert and a I-I-I in Sightreading. Their concert ratings were tied for the highest for a sub non-varsity ensemble at the contest. Bravo to Concert Band I and Mrs. Marquez for all their diligent work.
Monday, April 16, 2012 at 6:27PM Congratulations to all 3 Wakeland HS Cluster’s Middle School Varsity Bands.
On Monday, the Cobb MS, Staley MS, and Griffin MS Varsity Bands performed at the UIL Region 24 Concert and Sightreading Contest at The Colony HS. All 3 Varsity Bands earned the UIL Sweepstakes Award for a First Division Performance in Concert and a First Division Performance in Sightreading. Bravo.

Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:47PM Congrats to the Wakeland HS Jazz Ensemble for their performance at the Colin College Jazz Festival.
Outstanding Soloist Awards were presented to Ray Wilkins (tenor sax), Allison Pryor (trumpet), Scott Hankins (trombone), and Michael Carey (bari sax)
Additionally, Allison Pryor (trumpet) was awarded a scholarship to the Colin College Summer Jazz Camp and a scholarship to Colin College for the Fall 2012 semester.

The Varsity Winterguard finished in 4th place at the North Texas Colorguard Association Scholastic A Championships - Red Division. Overall, their final scores places them in 8th place in the circuit. The Top 10 results are as follows:

Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:30AM Congrats to the JV Winterguard on a wonderful season.
The JV Winterguard finished in 7th place overall in the Regional A Classification at the NTCA Regional A Championships held at Mansfield HS. They were the only JV Winterguard in the class, and did quite well over the course of the season. Final results are as follows:

The JV Winterguard finished in 2nd place in the Regional A class.
The Varsity Winterguard finished in 2nd place in the Scholastic A class.

Our Varsity Guard continues to shine as the season progresses. Bravo to Mr. Kichline, Mr. Sperling, Ms. Hogan, and the guard for another outstanding performance.
Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:42AM On Saturday, they finished in 2nd place in the North Texas Colorguard Association Contest hosted by Coppell HS. Our JV Guard competed well against a field of mostly Varsity guards. Bravo to Mr. Kichline, Mr. Sperling, Ms. Hogan, and the guard for their tremendous work.

Of 136 events, 95 received a First Division/Superior Rating (70%).
In addition, we have 55 students advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest in May at the University of Texas at Austin.

Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2:14PM Congrats to the Wakeland HS Band. For the second time in the school’s history, Wakeland performed at the UIL 4A State Marching Band Contest. After Prelims, the Wakeland Band finished 3rd and advanced into Finals. After Finals, the Wakeland Band finished 7th overall in the State of Texas. Bravo, Wakeland.
