About TFME
Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:17AM Welcome to the TFME Chapter Page for Wakeland High School!
TFME stands for “Texas Future Music Educators” and is a student branch of TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association).
TFME is an organization on campus that allows fine arts students - those in band, choir or orchestra - to gain experience and knowledge that will better prepare them for a career in music education. This can include teaching secondary band, orchestra, or choir; teaching elementary music; being a private lesson teacher; or teaching music theory, music history, or other music courses at the university level.
Students who are interested in pursuing one of these professions are encouraged to join TFME. Wakeland’s chapter staff sponsor is Sarah Marquez, who founded the WHS chapter in 2009.
Annual meetings begin in late fall, and will be announced far in advance. Members meet with Mrs. Marquez a minimum of four times a year and discuss topics such as resume building, the annual TMEA Convention in San Antonio, and the annual Fine Arts Recital.
The Wakeland TFME chapter hosts an event every May for all Wakeland musical students and staff, in which soloists or ensembles may perform in the auditorium in a recital setting. The event is recorded and is a great preparation for students headed to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition. The 2011-12 Fine Arts Recital is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
